Venice Design Week Jewelry Selection 2025
Against the backdrop of the TEMPORA 2025 theme, Venice Design Week has chosen VORTEX as the theme for its 2025 Jewelry Selection, now in its twelfth edition.
The vortex is a point of maximum energy that cleaves through space and gives it form, bending materials, techniques, and ideas to interpret the vortex’s fluid movement.
In the turbulent years immediately preceding the First World War, when nothing was certain and everything was in flux, Umberto Boccioni wrote this phrase, which shortly thereafter became the inspiration for the birth of the cultural movement known as Vorticism. Although short-lived, the group embodied countless philosophical, architectural, and artistic influences that inspired and moved artists such as Ezra Pound, Wyndham Lewis, and Helen Saunders.

I no longer believe very much in the idea of perfection as expressed through human activity.
The rotational movement of a vortex, a dynamic vision of the spiral, already contains within itself the very idea of perfection, whether mathematical or formal.
I believe that the concept of perfection, like that of the soul, fades away when it ceases to be something we strive towards. I now believe more in the form revealed through the oxymoron, in the unpredictable calculus of imperfection, in layering, and in the often-conflicting legacy of contamination.
This brooch seeks to represent these tensions.
he metal base, or frame, is an absolute form: the circle. Within it, an unruly colour emerges through repeated layers, much like the torn advertising posters found in our cities, weathered by time, or the layers of paint in old houses, each one bearing witness to generations that have passed.
Our lived experience, too, is layered.
Colours are revealed through repeated scratching, as on Venetian plaster marked by luggage trolleys or keys along the narrow calli, as we search for our lock, and for our home.
